To find a Rep in the UK, click here.

To find a Rep in Manchester, check here.

Our Manchester Reps also have different roles - see here for details. Their responsibilities fall under three main headings :

Recruiting
building the strength of the union by recruiting new members
Organising
building an effective union organisation, keeping members informed and encouraging their involvement in union activities
Representing
helping individual members with grievances and disciplinary issues, representing them in dealings with management, and negotiating with management on behalf of groups of members

The Manchester Reps meet as a committee at frequent intervals, so tell your Rep if you'd like any matter raising for discussion.

As well as Reps, we have a network of Health and Safety Reps at Central Park. Like Reps, they have specific legal rights but their role is focused around H&S issues. Some Reps do both jobs.

The Amicus Fujitsu West Gorton group has arranged a facility for members to order books by mail order at a discount.

Bookmarks, the official bookseller to the TUC, has agreed to give a discount of 10%, or free postage, on book orders through the union group. Any savings on the cover price (dependent on the size of the order and cost of postage), will be split between the member making the order and the group fund. Unlike Amazon etc, you'll never end up paying more than the cover price.

Bookmarks specialise in Labour movement, history, politics and economics books, but also stock lots of fiction and children's books. They can, however, order any book for us.

To take advantage of this offer, contact Branch member .

Reviews of a few of the books that Bookmarks sell are available on this site.

Bookmarks' website is at http://www.bookmarks.uk.com.

Rep Phil Tepper maintains a group library on the MAN34 site, containing a lot of useful information about employment rights, bargaining information etc. This mainly comes from Amicus, the TUC, and the Labour Research Department.
Index available here.

The LRD produces a wealth of information for trade unionists. Our Amicus branch (Amicus 9827 Greater Manchester IT Branch) has affiliated to the LRD, so members can access their on-line publications database over the Internet. Contact Phil Tepper or Ian Allinson for the username and password.

LRD also produce a weekly "Fact Service" bulletin which we distribute electronically to interested members. If you want to see if it interests you, contact

We have a noticeboard downstairs in the main building, between phases 2 and 3, near the cash machine and butty-bar. We put up many of our notices, and other relevant information from time to time.

The noticeboard is maintained by Hilary Robinson.

We're in the Amicus 9827 Greater Manchester IT Branch of Amicus, which meets upstairs in the Hare & Hounds pub, Shude Hill, Manchester City Centre at 5:30pm on the first Thursday of every month. Very occasionally the meeting date is changed, so please check our Events page or our , rather than wasting a trip!

Of course, like all union members, we can call on the support and advice of our union's full time officers, legal advice and research facilities. Amicus also organises a lot of educational events.

At present many employers (including Fujitsu) opt to consult directly, but in practice don't consult at all.
The draft regulations should be ready for consultation in the spring, with the final regulations issued in about a year's time.
