A key part of the Unite campaign is to press the company to be more open about pay and benefits - in particular to allow employees to see the pay scales which apply to them. Unite issued advice to employees in a recent leaflet (here) on how to use the Data Protection Act to seek access to their pay scale. The company will respond with a standard letter refusing the information. Unite is now helping members to seek a ruling from the Information Commissioner on whether this refusal is legal.
